Neptune in Pisces

The year of 2012 is significant for a number of reasons. One particular event that I would like to talk about is Neptune’s entry into its own sign of Pisces. Neptune entered Pisces on April 4th, 2011 for a few months. This year it will finally settle in for the long haul. Neptune will stay in Pisces until 2025.

This means that Neptune is returning to the place it was when it was discovered in 1846. It entered Pisces in 1847 and stayed there until 1861. Now Neptune is finally returning home after a break of about 149 years.

Neptune is Pisces gives the world an opportunity for tremendous spiritual transformation. Unfortunately it can also bring with it mass delusion. The last time Neptune was in Pisces it brought with it the California gold rush. This kind of mass hysteria is very Neptunian / Piscean in nature.

The spiritualism of the 19th century has its basis in Neptune’s travel through Pisces during that time. Séances and automatic writing, where just two of the methods used at that time to communicate with the spirit world. Spiritualists and psychics became the rage at this time. The Theosophical Society was founded under this influence with famed Theosophist Helena Blavatsky traveling around the world in search of in search of spiritualistic knowledge. Neptune is not only the planet of ghosts and illusions but it is also the planet of trickery and deception. as well as of deception and trickery.

The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood was formed in 1848 and roughly existed until about 1880. The notion of revolution through art was a main belief of these revolutionary artists. Magical realism and symbolism was widespread in all of the arts at this time. Also, concern for humanity and the world in general became an important part of artistic movement.

Charles Dickens became a prolific writer under the influence of Neptune in Pisces. Many of the social issues that he wrote about still remain a concern today. During this period Charles Darwin wrote “The Origin of Species” rebelling against conventional thought and challenging the Church’s that the first humans were Adam and Eve.

Back when Neptune was in Pisces during the 1800’s it coincided with a strong conjunction between Uranus and Pluto in the sign of Aries. Both of these planets are agents of revolution and radical change. An example of how the union of these two planets manifested itself was the publication of Karl Marx’s “Communist Manifesto”. Out of this came a kind of socialism by the name of Communism. Having Neptune in Pisces added idealism to the movement but one that was clouded by illusion. Soon after Neptune entered Pisces there were revolutions all across Europe, the most famous of which is the French Revolution.

What is funny that this time around with the transit of Neptune in Pisces there is also strong aspect between Uranus and Pluto. The next four years could certainly be quite interesting. Uranus will be squaring Pluto bringing with it the possibility of intense reformation. It is interesting to note that in some ways this country is becoming more of a socialist country with each passing day. Revolution, in one form or another, is a distinct possibility during this period. Let’s just hope that the transit of Neptune in Pisces helps to bring us to a greater spiritual awareness that can help create real change and transformation coupled with a greater love and understanding for all.

It is interesting to note that the three generational planets; Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, have all recently entered new signs. Pluto came first with its entrance into Capricorn a few years ago, followed by Uranus in Aries, and now finally Neptune in Pisces. Uranus in Aries brings with it the impetus for change, Neptune in Pisces provides ultimate idealism and finally Pluto in Capricorn can bring the tearing down of current infrastructure of established hierarchy.

During Neptune’s stay in Pisces, creativity and imagination will only be enhanced. Also asofter side of arts will emerge. Creative writing could see a brand new Golden Age in books, film, TV and computer games. Virtual reality could reach new heights of sensory experience resulting in brand new types of addiction. This Neptunian creativity combined with the innovative Uranian influence could create some amazing inventions.

Medical advances are sure to be in the making since Neptune and Pisces rules medicine and hospitals. Another possibility is the overhaul of our healthcare system. Neptune is also associated with alcohol and drugs. We may new and advanced types of “designer” drugs. The possibility for the legalization of marijuana, at least for medicinal purposes, is a strong possibility. Maybe new advances will occur in the way we treat addicts and addictions in general. All very Neptune in Pisces.

No one can really say what kind of changes Neptune in Pisces can bring. We probably will not really see what has happened until 2025 when Neptune enters the eye opening sign of Aries. Remember, not all of what Neptune will bring will pleasant. Neptune governs dreams, but it also governs nightmares.

As we enter the Age of Aquarius, Neptune in Pisces represents a kind of final test for mankind. As a global community we need to embrace the planetary energies of our time. Will we be able to rise above the desire to lose ourselves in a fantasy world of Neptunian escapist behavior or reach a new level of spiritual awareness so we can create real and meaningful transformation? Only time will tell.
